ABOUT

A (very) brief history...

Born and raised in the North East of England I discovered my love for performance pretty early on - making it into the Northern Echo for my performance as the Bossy Angel in my nativity (my mam still has the cutting) I caught the bug for acting. However it wasn't until, aged 14, when I gave my performance as Lady Bracknell, that I decided I wanted to make this my career.
At 18 I moved to Cardiff, to study English Literature at Cardiff University, where I split my time between my degree and Act One, the drama society. Many performances and first night curries later I found myself back up North studying Acting on Project A at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle.
Having finished in July 2019, I am currently taking on the challenge that is surviving as a jobbing actor....read on to find out more.

WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN, LOCA?

May 2024

And just like that, two years have flown by. And what a two years they've been.

I'm now proudly represented by Janet Plater Management.

I have worked extensively in TiE with company PiE - particularly on a project surrounding bystander training for sexual harassment, which I'm incredibly proud of.

I have Shakespeared in the summer, worked on new writing, and even been spotted as a Hedge in both Tokyo and Saudi Arabia...have bush will travel I suppose.

The main thing is, I'm still going.

As hard as this industry is, and can be - I've had many many rejections. I've cried over projects I didn't get. I've rejoiced when I've made it into a room.

And I've eaten 10 chicken pies in the name of art.

I've made new friends,  worked more with people I love and the fact I'm still going, to be honest is an achievement in itself.

THE VITAL IMPORTANCE OF BEING AN ACTOR

October 2021

This summer/autumn I have been fortunate enough to work with the wonderful companies Theatre Space NE and Northumberland Theatre Company on their productions of Macbeth and The importance of Being Earnest respectively.

I can't tell you how much of a joy it has been to be able to perform live theatre once again. Since graduating in 2019 it has been my goal to create this kind of work and I am ecstatic hat I have been able to do so.

The Importance of Being Earnest holds a particularly dear place in my heart as it was the first play that made me want to become an actor, and to perform it professionally has really been a full circle moment that is incredibly special to me.  There is nothing quite like live theatre and it is fair to say it has been well and truly missed during the pandemic.

It's a pleasure to be back!

Next up, it's pantomime time! I will be back in the Dovecote Amble as Pandemica, Cinderella's "Ugly" Stepsister....and I can't wait!

(Oh yes you can!)

No really - I can't! See you there!

FINDING YOUR TRUE SELF

Coming Soon - 2021

I'm so excited to announce that we have finished my first ever FEATURE FILM!

Finding Your True Self is a coming of age, slice of life feature that showcases the beauty of Newcastle and the North East - and hopefully some of the local talent as well...

I play Rosalind, a young woman with big dreams and a huge heart - that may be hiding some hidden secrets.

It's been a pleasure to film the actors are all wonderful and incredibly talented. It's been an absolute joy to bounce off them. As for the writer/director Gabriel Brown - he's a young talent who is definitely one to watch!

Catch it on Amazon Prime later in the year!

Take that Covid! I'm so happy to say that after such a difficult year it's really starting to look like things are getting back to normal, and I for one can't wait to see all the wonderful work that has been waiting patientily in the wings.

TRAINING AT PROJECT A

2018 - 2019

I am currently training at Project A, a 1 year course situated at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle. The course aims to deliver quality training to young performers without the London prices - it promotes art without class boundaries, equality and opportunity in a region that can sometimes feel ignored.

I can honestly say, training here, has changed my life.

The image above shows the end of a weeks workshop with Michael Corbidge, on Elemental Shakespeare - as an English Literature graduate who specialised in Shakespeare, let's just say this one was pretty special.
